On 9 November 2025, Sizanani Community Centre hosted a successful HIV Test Drive in Klipspruit, bringing essential health services directly to the community. The initiative formed part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to promote HIV awareness, encourage early testing, and reduce stigma surrounding the disease.

The event created a safe and welcoming space where community members, including both adults and young people, were able to access free and confidential HIV testing services. Trained healthcare workers and volunteers were on-site to provide counselling, support, and information about prevention and treatment.

Throughout the day, the atmosphere was one of openness and encouragement. Community members were empowered to take charge of their health, with many stepping forward to know their status for the first time. Educational sessions were also conducted to raise awareness about HIV prevention, healthy living, and the importance of regular testing.

The HIV Test Drive highlighted the importance of meeting people where they are and making healthcare services more accessible. It also reinforced Sizanani’s commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS through continuous outreach and community-based programmes.

By the end of the event, the impact was clear—not only in the number of people who accessed testing, but in the conversations started and the stigma challenged. Initiatives like these continue to play a vital role in building a healthier, more informed community.

Sizanani Community Centre remains dedicated to creating opportunities for communities to access vital health services and information, ensuring that no one is left behind in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
